There have been significant policy and legislative developments in relation to children in Ireland in recent times and the Children First Act is expected to be enacted shortly.  This event will provide an opportunity for all those working in the disability sector - CEO’s, decision makers and frontline staff working in the area of children’s disability services, child protection & welfare - to network, share information and hear presentations the following topics:

  • Overview of key legislation - implications and legal responsibilities facing organisations;
  • Tusla - overview of the Child & Family Agency & its engagement with the disability sector;
  • Issues arising for service providers in putting children with a disability first & dealing with child protection / welfare concerns.
  • An Garda Siochana - the obligation on organisations in reporting child protection concerns.
  • Overview of the HSE’s Children First Implementation Plan.

The event will provide delegates with the opportunity to hear from leading experts in this area, to network and discuss issues and concerns relating to child protection / welfare in their practice.

Target Group: CEOs, Designated Liaison Persons, Managers of Children’s Services, all disciplines working in Children’s Services both in the voluntary and statutory sectors, personnel from Tusla, HSE and staff working within Progressing Disability Services for Children and Young People.

Cost: €55.00 with a special rate of €30 for people with disabilities and their families.
