Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

There is a lot of information available to you about your Pension Scheme in your Scheme Booklets and on this Pensions Tab of www.fedvol.ie

To help you navigate and find answers quickly, we have put together a "Frequently Answered Questions" document.

This is a handy reference document which will point you to the best place to find answers to many of the Frequently Asked Questions that members have asked about their pension scheme / fund.

Many of the answers to the Frequently Asked Questions is available in the following key sources of information:

Your Pension Fund – On the go!

Members now have immediate access to their Pension Fund by accessing their Irish Life online ‘Member Portal’, similar to the way a member reviews their bank balance online.

The Member Portal allows you to:

  • Review your personal contact information.
  • Check your current pension fund value.
  • Review your investment choice.
  • Check out the projections tool which is a great help for targeting the income level you want to have at retirement.
  • Carry out an investment fund switch.
  • Update your beneficiary details in the event of your death.
  • View your Document Library which will in time contain all letters and correspondence sent to you from Irish Life.

To access your pension information online and at any time that suits you, you need to register for the online Member Portal.  If you have already given Irish Life your email address or mobile phone number, you can register now and get access to your online pension account.

If you have not already provided your personal details to Irish Life the above link will not work for you. To get access please email fedvol@irishlife.ie with the following details:

Your Name and address; Employer Name; Date of Birth; mobile number and your personal email address and ask Irish Life to provide you with a link to access your pension member portal.

Once you have registered for the Member Portal, as outlined above, you can then download the “Irish Life EMPOWER” app on your mobile phone.  iPhone users can go to the Apple Store to download the app.  Android users can download the app from the Google Play Store.

Further Information

For further information on the National Federation of Voluntary Service Providers Pension & Life Assurance Scheme, please review this pensions tab and access the full suite of pension material available to all Scheme members, including booklets, videos, webinars, newsletters, investment updates etc.

If you wish to discuss your pension fund, please engage directly with your Irish Life Advice Team point of contact assigned to your organisation.

Members can contact their Irish Life Advice Team point of contact for one-to-one meetings regarding their pension fund.  It is never too early to start engaging about your pension fund and discuss what benefits you could possibly expect based on your current pension contributions.  You could also discuss Additional Voluntary Contributions (AVCs) and what difference it would make to your pension fund if you commenced same.  You can also seek independent financial advice if you wish.

It is highly recommended that, especially during the final 6 years prior to your retirement date, you engage with your Irish Life Advice Team contact to understand the different ways you can draw down your pension fund on retirement.  This is a big decision and should be discussed well in advance of your retirement date.  You can if you wish also seek your own independent financial advice.

You can also contact Irish LIfe by:

  • emailing fedvol@irishlife.ie or
  • telephone 01-8563753 between 10am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm any working day.
