National Federation Statement on Aras Attracta Primetime investigates programme

(10 Dec 2014)

The National Federation of Voluntary Bodies Providing Services to People with Intellectual Disability condemns the behaviours that were witnessed in the Aras Attracta Primetime Investigates programme on 9th December 2014. The National Federation shares the serious concerns of the families and the HSE in relation to issues raised in Aras Attracta, Swinford, Co. Mayo, and notes that the HSE are investigating the matter to ensure service users’ rights and safety are protected at all times.

The National Federation of Voluntary Bodies has done, and continues to do, everything possible to ensure the culture within our member organisations avoids this type of behaviour occurring.

The National Federation will continue to work in partnership with the HSE and HIQA, through its members and as part of the National Task Force, to ensure that supports and services to people with intellectual disability are safe, respectful and of the highest quality and standard at all times.
