The National Federation of Voluntary Service Providers Supporting People with Intellectual Disability has today called on the Government to publish the Action Plan for the Disability Capacity Review without delay, and to fund its implementation in Budget 2024.
People with intellectual disabilities and autism are equal citizens. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities specifies “that: […] persons with disabilities have access to a range of in-home, residential and other community support services, including personal assistance necessary to support living and inclusion...”
However, people with intellectual disabilities in Ireland are struggling to access the most basic of human rights. In our Budget 2024 messages we are calling on Government to take urgent action to support the rights of people with intellectual disabilities.
